Coaches are a direct extension of the CAA’s ideas and goals.  If this is clearly expressed and
understood there should be very few, if any, conflicts during the season.  CAA and the coaches must act as a team... this is a position of RESPONSIBILITY.  Please refer to the CAA rules for details on the text below.

The coach’s code of conduct at games and practices

  • No foul language and no alcohol.
  • You must remain seated at all times during games.
  • Make it fun.
  • Learn new drills.
  • Communicate with your team’s parents.
  • Do not run the score up.
  • Remember that there are kids on the other team who are paying the price for your glory.
  • Teach the children good sportsmanship, be a good winner and a good loser.
  • Encourage team play (a hot player or a ball hog doesn’t make for a memorable team experience).
  • Part of your job is to Control the parents in a professional manner.  Help your parents set a good example.
  • Scorekeepers are also your responsibility.  Remember they are not to cheer and should act neutral.

Coach’s responsibility toward referees

Introduce yourself to the referees prior to the game starting and give them some encouragement.
Remember they will not always make the right call (what referee does?).  No shouting, verbal or
physical abuse to any referee at any time.  There is no room for arguments.  Coaches must at all times comply and stand up for our referees.  The referees are in charge of the game and the gym.

Your input as to the performance of the referees is requested, please direct these comments and
suggestions to the referee coordinator (not the referee) after the game.

CAA sanctions for non-compliance

Referees have the right to remove any player, coach or parent from the gym during game time.  Please respect this right.  The CAA reserves the right to temporarily or permanently remove any
coach at any time for any violation of the above or for any action the CAA feels is not in the best
interest of the league at the sole discretion of the CAA.

E-Mail

It is very important we have an email address for all coaches.  This will allow us communicate and adjust things as we go through the season.
